How to Choose High-Quality Towels
Choosing the perfect towel is about more than just color or size. True quality lies in the gram weight, cotton type, absorbency, and craftsmanship. In this guide, we’ll help you make the right choice.
1. Gram Weight: The Heavier, the Better
The gram weight (g/m²) indicates the fabric’s weight per square meter. The higher the weight, the denser, plusher, and more absorbent the towel.
- 400-450 g/m²: lightweight towels, ideal for daily use or summer.
- 500-600 g/m²: perfect balance between comfort and functionality.
- 650-700 g/m²: maximum softness and absorbency, for a luxury hotel-like feel.
2. Material: 100% Combed Cotton
Combed cotton removes short fibers and impurities, resulting in a stronger, softer, and longer-lasting yarn. Always look for towels made from 100% combed cotton to ensure premium quality.
3. Absorbency: Avoid Fabric Softeners
The most absorbent towels are made without fabric softeners. While they may feel less soft at first, they absorb water much better from the very first use.
4. Care Tips: Wash Without Softeners
- Wash at 40°C max.
- Avoid fabric softeners — they clog the fibers and reduce absorbency over time.
- Line dry or tumble dry at medium temperature.
- Do not use bleach.
5. Ideal Size for Every Use
- Bath towel: 70x140 cm or 90x170 cm
- Hand towel: 50x100 cm
- Washcloth: 30x50 cm
